Review: Super Sonico Headphones from eBay

Hello there, everybody! Today, after becoming a little tired of getting numerous questions about it on my Tumblr blog, I figured I'd finally make a review post/FAQ on my Super Sonico headphones, of which I purchased about a month or so ago. For those who are curious, you can purchase the headphones here! Sonico is one of my favourite characters (such a shame the anime was awful, though!), and I do anticipate to cosplay as her in October for MCM Expo in London. So, me being my usual lazy self with sorting out cosplay and what have you, I figured I'd sort out my cosplays early and in advance so I'm not rushing to get it all together the day before! When I saw these headphones on eBay, I knew I had to buy them; They were so perfect and well-made in comparison to all of the other replicas available on eBay. The only problem being was that they were VERY expensive... Like, £60/$90 expensive!

I placed my order on 28th February, and it took around a week for the headphones to be made, which isn't bad at all, considering they are hand-made! I literally have no complaints about the delivery or service! I messaged the seller multiple times about the headphones and they would always reply back very quickly and were always happy to answer questions. When I found out my order was shipped, I was literally buzzing with excitement! They arrived on 13th March, however sadly no one was at home to take the delivery, so I finally got ahold of them on the 15th. I was jumping around the room with glee: They were literally PERFECT. As you can see, I ordered the silver headphones, but you can also order a white version too, which also looks very nice!

This is what the headphones look like. They come in a small plastic packet, wrapped in lots of bubble wrap in a cardboard box, so it was very well protected and virtually no damage was done. My only problem was that one of the small black circles stuck on the end of one of the little "cylinders" at the end of Sonico's headphones had fallen off, however superglue soon managed to fix the problem, so it wasn't anything too major.
A side view of the headphones. They are very comfortable to wear and also come with a little cable so you can plug it into your laptop, phone or mp3 player to listen to music. The sound quality is surprisingly good, too. Nothing amazing, but definitely an added bonus! There are little switches on the bottom too, which you can press to make the headphones light up.
Glowing headphones... So pretty! They aren't as noticeable in daylight though, obviously, but at night time, if you're walking down a dark road and can't see anything... Ditch your torch and switch on your headphones!
So I immediately popped on the headphones as soon as I got them and switched them on. Like I said it's hard to see them glowing in daylight, but I feel like I'll definitely turn heads when I walk down the road with my headphones glowing!
... And here are what the headphones look like without the lights on!
The headband that connects the two headphones together, and what it looks like on the top of my head! Ignore the terrible photo and my hair! ;;

Sadly, I have a few little problems with the headphones whilst wearing/using them from day to day life. The first being that the soft pads on the headphones themselves started to come off! When I looked, they had only been glued on (because they are handmade), which I was not too happy with and since then I have been very careful with them. I know I can always superglue them back on, but I wouldn't want them suddenly tearing off whilst I was at a con. They are very delicate though and probably aren't intended for everyday use as they are a cosplay prop, so please bear this in mind!

My second complaint is that I feel that the top of the headphones stand too tall! I know that Sonico's headphones are supposed to come across as being quite bold and what makes her stand out and unique, however as someone who is very shy and likes to remain inconspicuous whilst out and about, wearing these would make me stand out a lot... Which can also be a good thing for some people!

My final complaint is that I noticed the headband has marks from wear the headphones had been spray painted silver. They are very hard to notice though (and also they're on the top of your head so no one would see it anyway), but I feel like this was a tiny let down. I also noticed that some of the spray paint has started to peel away a little bit in some places of the headphones, but like I said, this is only a minor fault and you would only notice it if you looked up really close.

So... What do they look like when worn? Well...

This is what they look like! I kind of cut off the top part because as I said, they do stand tall on my head and I felt a bit self-conscious about that. But other than that, I absolutely adore them! I can't wait to complete my cosplay now: I feel like these headphones will really polish off the whole outfit and make it look amazing! ... Well, I hope it does anyway!

Summary:
  • Fast shipment/delivery and good quality service all round!
  • Quite expensive.
  • Headphones are well made.
  • Comfy to wear and use on a day to day basis.
  • Unique (they glow)!
  • Headphone pads have started to come off.
  • Small marks on headband.
  • But all in all, a great cosplay piece and can easily polish off any Sonico outfit.
Overall, I give these Super Sonico headphones...

☆ = 8/10!

Thank you so much for reading... Stay kawaii!

Mochi Princess

Hello there! So this is my first ever post on this blog... I suppose I should make this a memorable one, then!

Although this is not my first time blogging, I am very excited to have my very own blog, yes indeed! Throughout my blogging journey, you can expect to see a mixture of posts, most of which will be "personal" to me: I'm afraid I'm probably not going to appeal to everyone but if you can find some enjoyment in what I write, then I would be most happy. You can however, expect to see posts revolving around the themes of cosplay, fashion, anime, videogames, and Japanese culture in general.

... Oh, but pardon my manners. I never did introduce myself properly, did I? I'm Lucy, a 15 year old girl from England! And if you couldn't guess already, I'm infatuated with mochi (and sweets/cakes in general)... That's probably the best way I can explain it, eheh. I actually love lots of Japanese food, but mochi is just my favourite. It's got a very peculiar consistency and texture to it - similar to bubblegum - but trust me, it's delicious! Anyway, I do love Japan in general, as well as having a great appreciation towards Japanese food. Since I was 8 years old, it's been my dream to visit the country; I'd love to visit Tokyo (Akihabara especially because... Well, kind of obvious why, isn't it?), as well as Okinawa, Kyoto, Osaka, Hiroshima... Well, I'd love to be able to see as much of Japan as possible. It's just a very fascinating country, and it really appeals to me because the culture is just so different to over here in England. From the festivals even down to the etiquette, Japan has enchanted me so much. I love watching anime loads, too! I have a lot of favourite anime, but Hyouka is definitely my favourite. I also love Steins;Gate, Fate/Zero, Ano Hana, Mawaru Penguindrum, and Acchi Kocchi. Other things I enjoy doing is playing videogames, dancing (grade 6 in ballet), judo, cosplaying (although I don't think I'm any good at it), drawing, and writing.

I'm a very shy person in real life, actually. However, I am very friendly and I would like to be able to interact lots with my followers! So please, don't ever hesitate to just leave a comment: It would really mean a lot to me. Thanks so much for reading, and I hope that this blog will be able to grow considerably, someday.
